Unposed & Documentary Trafford Wedding Photographer

Hey, I’m James, the photographer behind Cherished Images. Being based right here in Urmston, Trafford, there is nothing I love more than shooting local. Whether you are planning a grand garden celebration, a relaxed clubhouse gathering, or an intimate registry service, I specialize in capturing the real, unscripted story of your day.
My approach is entirely documentary—no awkward posing, no forced smiles, and zero pressure. Just honest, beautiful memories of you and your guests having the best time, captured by a photographer who knows Trafford's local streets and venues inside out.

Laid-Back, Story-Driven Photography on Your Doorstep

Because Trafford is my backyard, I know exactly what makes this leafy corner of Greater Manchester so special for weddings. From the historic, tree-lined lanes of Bowdon and Hale to the vibrant, community-focused streets of Urmston, Sale, and Stretford, Trafford offers an incredible variety of settings.

Working with me means you get a local partner. I don’t charge travel or parking fees for Trafford venues, and I’m always just down the road if you want to grab a coffee in Urmston to chat through your timeline. Because I work with an unscripted philosophy, I adapt instantly to the organic rhythm of your day—ensuring your photography remains entirely stress-free from morning prep to the dance floor.

Real-World Experience at Trafford's Finest Venues

A true local treasure. Flixton House is a Grade II listed Georgian manor house that manages to feel grand yet completely relaxed and unpretentious.
James's Photo Tip: The intimate, wood-panelled ceremony room has a beautiful, warm atmosphere. I rely on fast, silent lenses to capture your vows using the natural window light without needing distracting flashes. For portraits, we only need 10 minutes walking through the private lawns and by the historic wrought-iron gates to get stunning, natural couple shots while your guests enjoy drinks.

Davyhulme Park Golf Club (Davyhulme)

Sprawling across manicured 18-hole parkland, Davyhulme Park Golf Club is a fantastic choice for couples looking for a welcoming atmosphere, excellent reception suites, and lush greenery.
James's Photo Tip: The parkland course offers incredible outdoor framing. The weeping willows and expansive fairways are perfect for open-air group shots. As the evening begins, I love taking couples out for 10 minutes to capture soft, glowing portraits as the sun sets directly over the greens—completely unscripted and stress-free.

Iconic Trafford & South Manchester Venues

Trafford has a diverse range of wedding settings. I also frequently document celebrations at The Bowdon Rooms in Altrincham (perfect for vintage, high-ceilinged receptions), Quarry Bank Mill on the Cheshire border, and the historic Dunham Massey estate. Wherever you choose to say your vows, I know how to read the light and space to capture the honest character of the venue.

Real Trafford Wedding: Rik & Alex at Flixton House

Rik and Alex’s wedding was the perfect blueprint for a relaxed, Urmston-local celebration. They paired an intimate ceremony inside Flixton House’s wood-panelled hall with a high-energy reception that spilled out onto the sunny lawns.
They were slightly camera-shy and wanted to avoid forced choreography. Instead of long, stiff portrait sessions, we spent just 10 minutes slipping away to the gardens for a relaxed walk near the historic gates. The result is a gallery that captures the real laughter, the emotional tears during the speeches, and the vibrant energy of their family and friends celebrating together.

FAQs — Planning Your Trafford Wedding

Do you charge travel fees for weddings in Trafford?

No. Since I am based in Urmston, Trafford is my local area. I don’t charge any travel, parking, or mileage fees for weddings anywhere in the Trafford borough, including Sale, Altrincham, Stretford, Hale, or Bowdon. The price I quote you is the final price you pay.

How do you handle group photos at venues like Flixton House?

I focus on keeping group photos quick and "no-fuss." At Flixton House, the wide steps at the front of the house or the main garden lawns provide a perfect backdrop. I coordinate with you beforehand to build a short, focused list so we can get your family shots captured efficiently, letting you get back to your guests within 15 minutes.

What if it rains on our wedding day at Davyhulme Park Golf Club?

We adapt instantly. Davyhulme Park's clubhouse offers a spacious interior with large windows that pull in beautiful, soft daylight even on overcast days. If there’s a break in the rain, we can slip out to the covered terrace or nearby trees for outdoor shots, but the indoor space is fantastic for keeping everyone dry and relaxed.

Are we allowed to take photos during the ceremony at Trafford Registry offices?

Yes. Trafford registrars are generally fantastic and very accommodating. Whether you are marrying at Flixton House or Trafford Town Hall, I always work respectfully and silently in the background, ensuring I capture the rings, the vows, and the reactions without ever disrupting the service or blocking your guests' view.

How long do we need to set aside for couples' portraits?

I recommend setting aside just 10 to 15 minutes. My goal is to capture the real connection between you, not to stage an elaborate photo shoot. We’ll go for a short, relaxed walk around your venue's grounds (like the gardens at Flixton House or the fairways at Davyhulme), allowing you to catch your breath while I capture honest, unposed portraits.

We are both camera-shy—will you make us pose?

Not at all. Over 90% of the couples I photograph tell me they hate having their picture taken. My documentary style is built entirely around unposed storytelling. I won't make you stand in awkward angles or fake laugh. I simply capture the organic moments of the day as they unfold naturally.

Like my style and want to chat about your Trafford wedding?

If you love the idea of relaxed, unposed photography and want a Trafford-local photographer who knows your venue inside out, I would love to check my availability for your date. Drop me a line with a few details, and I'll send over my wedding packages brochure.
