A Unique Celebration at St Thomas Church | Eccleston, St Helens Wedding

Every wedding has its own unique rhythm, but Jac and Josh’s day in Eccleston, St Helens, was something truly special.

Their story started during the strangest of times. Meeting during the Covid-19 lockdowns while both were studying for their PhDs, their connection grew during a time when the world stood still. Fast forward to yesterday, and here we were, celebrating their marriage in a way that perfectly reflected who they are.

With Jac originally from Malaysia and Josh being a local St Helens lad, their wedding was a beautiful coming together of cultures, families, and friends. But what stood out most was their deep connection to their local church, St Thomas. For Jac and Josh, the St Thomas congregation isn't just a community; they are close friends and an extension of their own family.

Because of this deep bond, they decided to do something I haven't seen in my entire career. In my 20 years as a wedding photographer, I have documented thousands of celebrations, but yesterday was a first: I photographed a cake cutting and a first dance right inside the very same church where the couple had tied the knot just a few hours prior.

It was incredibly moving, entirely unscripted, and an absolute joy to capture.

Jac and Josh opted for my essential half-day coverage, which fit their plans effortlessly. It gave me the perfect window of time to blend into the background and document the real, unfiltered emotions of their day—from the nervous excitement before the ceremony to that unforgettable first dance in the church aisles. No awkward staging, no long portrait sessions pulling them away from their guests—just honest storytelling.

Congratulations again to Jac and Josh. It was an honour to be part of such a warm, community-driven celebration.
