If you’re planning your wedding at Runcorn Town Hall, you are likely searching for a photographer who already understands the venue’s flow, its unique lighting, and how to get the absolute best out of its elegant interiors and parkland gardens.
With over 18 years of experience photographing weddings across Cheshire and the North West, I approach every Town Hall wedding with a calm, organised, and story-led documentary style. There is no awkward posing—just natural storytelling tailored to the rhythm of your day.
Runcorn Town Hall is one of Cheshire’s most characterful civic wedding venues. This Grade II listed Victorian mansion is set within beautifully landscaped gardens and is distinguished by its grand staircase, ornate ceilings, and heritage features.
The combination of its historic interiors and expansive outdoor spaces provides an ideal balance for modern wedding photography. It is dramatic enough for elegant, editorial-style portraits, yet warm and intimate enough for natural, documentary storytelling.
Knowing a venue inside out means we never waste time wandering around looking for backgrounds on your wedding day. Here are my favorite locations to utilise at the Town Hall:
Navigating the Logistics: Timings & Flow
Understanding the operational flow of a civic venue is crucial for keeping your day entirely stress-free.
Want to see how a full wedding day unfolds here?
Scarlet and Graeme chose Runcorn Town Hall for their intimate, family-focused celebration. With three young children and a clear vision for natural, honest imagery, they wanted a day free from heavy posing and strict schedules.
We used the gorgeous natural light of the ceremony room and took a relaxed stroll through the gardens to capture a gallery full of laughter, connection, and real emotion.

Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of documenting beautiful, unscripted stories right here in Halton. Don't just take my word for it—here is a selection of feedback from couples who trusted Cherished Images to capture their Runcorn Town Hall celebration.

I could not recommend Cherished Images enough.
You were absolutely incredible James, it was a pleasure to have you at our wedding. And we could not be more pleased with our beautiful photographs.
Thank you! ❤️”
Ron, Father of the Groom
“James did an outstanding at Scarlet and Graeme's wedding. He managed to capture lots of natural shots, as well organising group photos including perfect photos of the service itself. Certainly a masterclass of photography”
When you choose a venue as historic and characterful as Runcorn Town Hall, the flow of your day becomes incredibly important. Having photographed many weddings here across the seasons, I know exactly how to get the best out of the space. Here are four things I always tell my couples to consider when planning their timeline and layout:
Runcorn Town Hall has a wide, grand entrance that is practically begging for a confetti throw. Once you’ve signed the register, have your guests head out first to line the pathway at the bottom of the main steps. This creates a natural funnel for you to walk through, resulting in high-energy, joyous documentary photos as you exit the building as a married couple.
The sweeping, ornate wooden staircase inside the Town Hall isn't just a backup plan for rain—it’s one of the best architectural features of the building. The large period windows flood the stairs with gorgeous, flattering natural light. Even on a bright summer day, it’s worth taking 5 minutes to capture a few elegant, quiet portraits here before heading out to the gardens.
Because the Town Hall sits within beautiful public parkland, you don't have to travel anywhere for your portraits. After your family group photos are done, I always recommend scheduling just 15–20 minutes to slip away together. We can take a very relaxed, unposed walk towards the historic bandstand and tree-lined paths. It gives you a moment to breathe and catch up, while I capture completely natural, story-led images.
One of the biggest perks of this venue is how accommodating it is for families and pets (yes, the venue is dog-friendly!). If you have energetic kids or are bringing your dog along for the ceremony, the open lawns are perfect. Don't worry about keeping everyone perfectly posed; letting the kids run on the grass or having your dog jump up to greet you creates the exact kind of authentic, joyful moments that look incredible on camera.
If you have booked Runcorn Town Hall and want a relaxed, documentary wedding photographer who knows the grounds inside out—and who won't turn your day into an awkward photoshoot—I would love to hear from you.
