Wedding Photography FAQ: The

Wedding Photography FAQ: The "No-Fuss" Guide

Planning a wedding involves a million moving parts, but your photography shouldn't be one of them. I believe in keeping things simple, transparent, and relaxed.

Below are the most common questions I get from couples in Manchester and the North West. If I’ve missed anything, just drop me a message.

The Style (Posing & Nerves)

We are awkward in front of the camera. Do we have to pose?

Not at all. In fact, my entire documentary style is built for couples who hate posing. I don't stop the flow of your day to set up fake moments. I capture the real ones—the laughter during speeches, the hug from your gran, the chaotic dance floor energy.

We will spend about 15–20 minutes doing some relaxed portraits (usually just a walk and a chat), but 95% of the time, you won't even know I'm there.

Do you take formal group shots?

Yes, absolutely. Even though I am a documentary photographer, I know how important those family records are. I recommend keeping the list short (6–8 groups) so you aren't standing around for an hour. We can usually get these done in 15 minutes, letting you get back to the champagne and canapés.

Locations & Travel

Where are you based, and how far do you travel?

I am based locally in Urmston, which puts me in the perfect spot to cover the whole region.

  • Local Weddings: I regularly cover Trafford weddings at venues like Flixton House and Victoria Warehouse.
  • City Centre: I’m just a short drive from the Manchester city centre for weddings at the Town Hall, King Street Townhouse, and The Midland.
  • Further Afield: I cover the entire North West, including Cheshire, Lancashire, and the Lake District."

Do you charge for travel?

For weddings within Greater Manchester and Cheshire, travel is included. If your venue is further afield (like the Lakes or Yorkshire), there may be a small mileage fee, but this will be fully transparent in your quote.

The Photos & Delivery

How many photos will we receive?

For a full-day wedding, you can expect between 400 and 600 fully edited, high-resolution images. I don't cap the number—if it’s a good photo, it goes in the gallery."

How long does it take to get our photos?

I know you are excited to see them! You will receive a 'Sneak Peek' gallery of about 10–20 highlights within 48 hours of the wedding. The full gallery is usually ready within 4–6 weeks, depending on the season.

Can we print our photos?

Yes. You have full personal printing rights. You can download the high-resolution files and print them wherever you like, or order professional fine-art prints directly through your private gallery store.

Booking & Payment

How do we secure our date?

To book, I just require a signed contract and a booking fee of £100. The remaining balance isn't due until 4 weeks before the wedding day.

Do you have insurance?

Yes, fully insured with professional indemnity and public liability insurance. If your venue requires a certificate (often required for heritage sites like The Monastery or Town Hall), just let me know and I’ll forward it to them.
