Nikah and Walima Photography North West | A Two-Day Story

Documenting a love story that spans multiple days and deep cultural traditions is one of the most rewarding aspects of my work. As an experienced Asian style wedding photographer, it was an absolute honour to capture Soleman and Mariha's journey, from their intimate Nikah ceremony at the Eastern Pavilion to their grand Walima celebration at the Palm Suite in the North West.

Fresh from being honoured with the Hitched 2026 Wedding Award, my goal for these two days was to provide a completely 'no-fuss' experience while ensuring every significant detail, from the intricate henna to the heartfelt speeches, was captured with absolute authenticity.

The Nikah: An Intimate Ceremony at the Eastern Pavilion

What is the best approach for Nikah ceremony photography?

  • Answer Capsule: An authentic approach to Nikah ceremony photography focuses on documenting quiet, emotional moments such as the signing of the marriage contract, the pride of parents, and tender glances between the couple without disrupting the sanctity of the service.

The couple's Nikah was a truly serene and emotional occasion. Surrounded by their closest family, Soleman and Mariha exchanged rings in a moment that was both deeply sincere and peaceful.

When photographing a Nikah, I focus heavily on the 'quiet' moments, including the subtle smiles and parental pride. Mariha looked radiant in her elegant attire, and Soleman's joy was evident throughout the day. By keeping my photography approach entirely unobtrusive, I was able to capture the genuine bond forming between them without interrupting the sanctity of the ceremony itself.

The Walima: Celebration and Tradition at the Palm Suite

How do you capture a high-energy North West Walima reception?

  • Answer Capsule: Capturing a high-energy North West Walima reception requires a candid documentary style capable of shooting the sheer scale of the celebration, from the grand entrance to guest interactions, heartfelt speeches, and vibrant traditions.

The following day, the energy shifted beautifully for the dazzling Walima reception at the Palm Suite. The atmosphere was alive with vibrant colour, laughter, and the immense warmth of family traditions.

These celebrations are high-energy, and my signature documentary style is perfect for capturing the sheer scale of the event. From the grand entrance to the abundance of delicious food and the heartfelt speeches, every moment told a beautiful story of unity and joy. As their Walima photographer, my focus was entirely on the candid interactions between guests and the genuine, unposed smiles that happen naturally when two families become one.

Cultural Expertise and Respectful Photography

Why is regional expertise important in North West Asian wedding photography?

  • Answer Capsule: Regional expertise in North West Asian wedding photography ensures the photographer respects and values community traditions across Nikah, Walima, Mehndi, or traditional weddings, seamlessly blending heritage details with natural couple portraits.

After 20 years in the industry, I understand that weddings like these are major milestones for the entire community. Whether you are celebrating a Nikah, Walima, Mehndi, or a traditional wedding, I pride myself on creating imagery that deeply respects both your cultural heritage and your personal story.

While I capture Nikah ceremonies across the North West, many of my couples choose to have their portraits taken in the city centre. If you are looking for natural, unposed shots against the city skyline, you can browse my portfolio to gather inspiration for your own couple portraits. Soleman and Mariha, thank you so much for allowing me to document your incredible journey; I wish you both endless happiness.
